American girls: Can you give me your thoughts on flowers and gifts during dating?
I apologize for any confusion for specifying American girls, but the culture blends men/women roles. I don’t have much luck with them. I get the vibe they feel like they are being “bought”, or awkward, or “why is he giving me these?” I don’t think I understand the rules and regulations.
I only get the feeling I’m being “bought” or that it is awkward when a man buys me things and then expects sex. My opinion is that if you buy anyone a gift, then you should be doing it out of love and care, not because you expect anything in return. Women may feel awkward when they are receiving gifts from men who are pursuing them because they wonder what he expects in return. If you’re getting this vibe, maybe you should tell the person *why* you gave them a gift… that should clear things up.
